Once You Go Nocellara, You Don’t Go Back

Once You Go Nocellara, You Don’t Go Back

When it comes to extra virgin olive oil, let’s be honest: nobody does it like we Italians. Italy is home to over 500 olive cultivars (varieties), a stunning selection  that reflects the country’s rich biodiversity and centuries of regional farming traditions. From the groves of Tuscany, to the delicate varieties of Liguria or the robust oils from Puglia, each region produces extra virgin with distinct characteristics. These aren’t just crops—they’re living legacies, passed down through generations of growers who have refined their techniques over centuries.

But if  you grew up like we did—in the sun-soaked western corner of Sicily,  in the province of Trapani, your go-to extra virgin olive oil was always the same: Nocellara del Belice, most often with just a dash of Biancolilla (we do a 90/10 blend, just like it was always done for centuries).

We still remember those autumn days—late October, early November—when we’d go to the local frantoio (olive mill) with our parents to make our own olive oil. Together with the farmers who had helped us pick the olives in our lands, we would oversee the pressing and then help sell the oil. That unmistakable aroma of just-pressed Nocellara olives, the deep green color, the bold taste on a slice of warm bread—it’s a memory that stays with you forever. It’s part of your identity. And once you’ve experienced authentic Sicilian olive oil like that, it’s almost impossible to go back or to try every other variety.

When we created Magnifico, we wanted to capture exactly those authentic sensations from our childhood: the taste, the tradition, the passion. Magnifico is our way of sharing the true essence of Sicilian extra virgin olive oil with you, made from the finest Nocellara del Belice and a hint of Biancolilla olives, carefully harvested and cold-pressed following the tradition. Every bottle of Magnifico carries the spirit of those days at the frantoio and the rich heritage of our land.

And here’s the thing: once you’ve tasted that combination, everything else feels... a bit flat.

It’s like growing up eating fresh, wood-fired pizza in Naples and then trying frozen pizza abroad. Or drinking espresso at a   bar in Palermo and then getting a watery coffee in a plastic cup. You just know too much. Your taste buds have seen the promised land. There’s no going back.

So, why does Nocellara leave such a lasting impression?

Because it’s got character. It’s bright in color, with a bold, grassy scent that hits you the second you open the bottle. On the palate, it is smooth and structured, revealing an interplay of fruitiness, fresh herbs, and a lingering touch of pepper. And you can truly taste the olive. It's complex, but not fussy. Clean, but never bland.

This is the kind of oil that doesn’t just dress a salad—it transforms it. So even if you’re on a diet, your greens suddenly feel like a treat. And if you’re the type who loves to eat big, well, this oil makes every bite unforgettable. It gives grilled vegetables a voice. It makes even a simple piece of bread taste like a celebration.

Everything we make with this oil just tastes better. Richer. More alive. That’s why we created Magnifico: to share that unmistakable flavor with you, wherever you are.

Because once you know, you know.

And we promise: you won’t want to go back.

Trust us.

How to Choose Cheap Olive Oil - Best Tips

Choosing the right olive oil can be a daunting task, especially when you're trying to balance quality with affordability. With so many options on the market, it's essential to know what to look for to ensure you're getting the best value for your money. In this article, we'll guide you through the ins and outs of selecting cheap olive oil without compromising on quality. Whether you're looking for the best olive oil for salads or cooking, we've got you covered. Before diving into the selection process, it's crucial to understand the different types of olive oil available. This knowledge will help you make informed decisions when comparing prices and quality. Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is the highest quality olive oil. It is made from pure, cold-pressed olives, meaning it retains more of the olives' natural flavors and nutrients. EVOO is perfect for salads and drizzling over dishes, making it a popular choice despite being slightly more expensive than other types. EVOO's production process is strictly regulated to ensure that it meets specific chemical and sensory standards. This means that to be classified as extra virgin, the oil must be free from defects and have a fruity taste. It's revered for its health benefits, including high levels of antioxidants and healthy fats that are beneficial for heart health. Additionally, EVOO is versatile in the kitchen and can be used in a variety of dishes, from cold preparations like dressings and dips to light sautéing. However, it's important to remember that its delicate flavor can be lost if heated too much, so it's best used where its taste can shine. Virgin olive oil is also made from cold-pressed olives but has a slightly higher acidity level than EVOO. It's...
